(Gretna) — Pittsylvania County authorities have filed charges in a weekend shooting death.
Captain Gerald Ford says it happened Saturday morning at three. The 911 Center got a call reporting a man had been shot in the 500 block of Tucker Road in Gretna. Deputies found 38-year old Latisha Johnson of Hurt unresponsive with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Deputies have arrested 41-year old Charles Jermaine Pannell Junior of Hurt. He is charged with assault and battery of a family member, shooting from a vehicle, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, reckless handling of a firearm, and encouraging the delinquency of a minor.
Pannell is being held under no bond in the Pittsylvania County Jail.
Authorities say they are still investigating the incident and are releasing no further details.
