Danville woman dies in Interstate crash, son charged

  (Bracey, Va.) — A Danville women died in a crash on a Virginia interstate Monday, reportedly when her son fell asleep at the wheel.  

    State Police say it happened just before 11 a.m. Monday, on Interstate 85 near mile marker 34 in Brunswick County. That’s about 90 minutes outside of Danville.

    Troopers say James Ellis Price III, of Danville, was headed southbound in a 1998 Honda Accord when he fell asleep while driving.  He ran off the road and hit a tree. 

    His passenger and mother, 81-year old Shirley Anne Price of Danville, later died from her injuries. 

    James Ellis Price III has been charged with reckless driving. State Police are still investigating the single-car crash.
