(Danville) — A local disaster relief group now has a place to keep and repair some of their biggest equipment.
God’s Pit Crew dedicated its new Truck Maintenance Garage this weekend at a ribbon cutting ceremony. Their fleet of response vehicles and equipment is a crucial factor in quickly responding to major natural disasters.
With the Truck Maintenance and Fleet Shop now open, the Crew can do some needed repairs and upkeep at their headquarters on North Main Street.
“God’s Pit Crew is honored to be the hands and feet of extending hope, healing, and restoration to hurting people, but each person who donates and supports our mission is the reason that we can do what we do – and we definitely couldn’t do it without each of them,” said Vice President of Advancement Operations Rhonda Zola. “This journey of our miracle garage has reiterated God’s purpose and plan for the future of God’s Pit Crew.”
This is God’s Pit Crew’s 25th year of service. Over that time, they’ve built and supplied 85 major rebuilds since their inception – including homes, schools, churches, and more. All rebuilds are provided at no cost to recipients.
“We were on a mission to serve, but didn’t fully grasp at the time all of the miracles that God would place before us,” said God’s Pit Crew President Randy Johnson. “We are so blessed that He has empowered us to serve others for His glory.”
Last year, the Crew responded to 13 major disasters and delivered 83 tractor-trailer loads of relief to disaster victims, including over 20,300 Blessing Buckets. Those are five-gallon buckets containing food, personal hygiene items, Bibles and handwritten notes of encouragement.
