(Richmond) — Caesars is ramping up the numbers at their temporary casino in Danville as they get closer to showtime.
Chris Albrecht, CEO of Caesars Virginia Casino and Resort told the Virginia State Lottery Board this week they now have 457 team members. Their soon-to-be-amended agreement with the city calls for a range of between 900 and 1,300 workers.
Albrecht says more than three-fourths of their team members are from Virginia and just over half are from Danville. 44% are women and 45% are minorities.
Albrecht also tells Commissioners that their partnership with Averett University has begun. The All-In On Education Program lets Caesars team members complete their studies without any out-of-pocket cost. Right now there are eight participants working on their undergrad degrees and five studying in the Master’s program.
Albrecht says some of the casino’s “coattails” are also paying dividends. He says they’ve seen growth each month in the use of local hotel partners. At last check, that meant 584 stays at other hotels for casino guests, with March as the highest usage month so far.
The permanent Caesars Virginia Casino and Resort is set to open by the end of the year.
