(Pelham, N.C.) — Caswell County authorities are cracking down on a night club that’s been the source of complaints and the scene of at least one recent instance of violence.
Caswell Superior Court Judge John Morris last week signed a temporary restraining order for a Nuisance Abatement against the N.V. Lounge. That’s a small, private nightclub on Nunnally Road in Pelham.
This is the first step in a case brought by the District Attorney. This allows for, “a civil remedy to abate such criminal acts and their detrimental impacts on the community.”
Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden says the nightclub has been a “hotspot for criminal activity, draining our resources, negatively impacting the community and fostering criminal behavior.” He hopes the abatement process will, “return peace to this community.”
A little more than a week ago, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement officers and members of the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant. They say the venue was operating as an “adult entertainment club.”
Agents and deputies seized ten guns, one of which had been reported as stolen. Several people were charged with multiple misdemeanor and felony counts. Durden says there were also controlled substance violations and alcohol violations.
Last December, the N.V. Lounge was the scene of a shooting death. 26-year-old Joshua White, of Danville, was shot and killed in a confrontation in the club’s parking lot.
