(Danville) — Activity dropped a bit during the month of April at Caesars’ temporary casino in Danville.
The state Lottery reports $19,736,881.61 in revenue during the month. That’s down nearly two million dollars from March. There was slight drop in activity at the 804 slot machines at the temporary spot on West Main Street. That was partially offset by a slight increase in revenues from their 33 table games.
Caesars has now taken in over 200 million dollars since they opened last May. Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of their opening.
April’s taxes on Caesars was over three-and-a-half million dollars. Over a million of that goes directly to the City of Danville. The city has now collected over 12 million dollars in gaming-tax revenue from the casino. The city also gets reimbursement as part of a citing agreement.
Elsewhere in Virginia, the temporary Bristol Casino generated nearly $14 million in adjusted gaming revenue for the month of April. The permanent River City Casino in Portsmouth reported nearly 26-and-a-half million dollars in activity. Both of those numbers are down slightly from March levels.
The permanent Caesars Virginia Casino & Resort is set to open later this year.
