(Danville) — One of the top officials at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research has received a first-of-its kind honor.
Linda Green this weekend was named the first recipient of the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce’s WE Lead award.
WE stands for Women Empowered. It’s a new program to develop leadership skills and build professional networks for women in business.
Green is Vice President of Economic Development at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, and has been Executive Director of the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance since 2016. She’s helped recruit 28 new companies to the area and helped in the expansion of 31 existing firms. That’s created more than 5,300 jobs and spurred $1.5 billion in capital investment.
Additionally, Green is serving this year as President of the Virginia Economic Developers Association. They’re a non-profit for people with a professional interest in economic development in Virginia.
