(Danville) — Danville Police are investigating a possible drowning.
Police spokesperson Matt Bell says 68-year old Fred Matthew Floyd was tubing with others on the Dan River. At some point he left their sight. They found him in the water near Carrington Pavilion, unconscious and not breathing.
Police and EMS responded shortly after six PM Thursday. Floyd was pronounced dead a short time later.
Floyd’s body will be taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy. The investigation continues.
