A teenage Danville murderer originally ruled not competent to stand trial will spend 18 years behind bars.
16-year old Amarion Hairston was sentenced this weekend. Danville Circuit Court Judge Joseph Milam originally found Hairston not competent and ordered six weeks of treatment for the then-15-year old Hairston in an effort to restore competency.
Hairston entered a plea deal to testify against a co-defendant, Marquise Holland. Holland is Hairston’s uncle. He was convicted of first-degree murder last month and will be sentenced in September.
On May first last year, Danville Police found 37-year old Marcus Hairston dead after getting a call of shots fired at the Woodside Village complex off of Piney Forest Road. Another victim was taken to the hospital. Hours later, a third victim arrived at SOVAH suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. A second suspect, Marquise Holland, is also facing charges in the shooting.
Hairston will serve five years in a juvenile facility, and the rest of the time in an adult prison.
