Council races draws thousands in donations

(Danville) — Candidates for Danville City Council have collectively raised more than $55,000 in their bids for five open seats this fall.  

The state Board of Elections has released fund-raising totals through August. Madison Whittle leads the pack with more than thirty-thousand dollars. Most of that is from the candidate. 

    Newcomer Shakeva Frazier is second with nearly ten-thousand dollars raised. Incumbent Lee Vogler reports $5,556 in contributions through August.  Fellow incumbent Larry Campbell has taken in over five-thousand dollars. 

    Newcomer Petrina Carter is reporting $2,825 in contributions. Fellow newcomer Maureen Belko has raised over 15-hundred dollars, and incumbent Barry Mayo is just over a thousand.  

    Newcomer Felice McWilliams has taken in four-hundred dollars, while incumbent Sherman Saunders is reporting no contributions. 

    The election is November fifth. Five seats will be voted on.  All five incumbents are on the ballot.
