Regional bus service survey launched

(Danville) — Local leaders want to know what you think about a possible regional bus service.

The Danville-Pittsylvania Regional Industrial Facility Authority is looking into the service as a means to boost local employment and economic development opportunities. They’re sending out a survey to get public input on whether or not this would be a worthwhile effort.  And if it is, what are the best potential regional public transportation service areas.

This would include stops at the Southern Virginia Megasite at Berry Hill, which will likely employ thousands of workers in the future.  Another stop would be Caesar’s Virginia Casino and Resort and the Danville Transit hub on Spring Street.

The survey is accessible through a link and a QR code on the RIFA website.

Earlier this year, the city of Danville put out bids for a feasibility study to establish commuter bus service for Danville from a third party provider. That study is exploring commuter bus service linking Danville to Lynchburg, Martinsville, and Greensboro.
