(Danville) — Four people were hurt and one of them died in a weekend shooting at a new restaurant in the River District.
Danville Police were called just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday, to Culture Restaurant at 510 Spring Street. Police found 21-year old Ammorrion Harris, lying on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant suffering from gunshot wounds. There was a large crowd around him.
EMS workers took Harris to SOVAH Health Danville where he was later pronounced dead. Minutes after the first call, three people showed up at SOVAH Health with non-life threatening injuries from the gunfire at the restaurant.
Hours later, Danville Police charged 35-year old Xavier McDaniel Keith (pictured) with attempted aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Keith is being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.
Investigators are still following up on leads in the shooting, and no charges have yet been filed in connection with the shooting death.
In a statement on their social media page, Culture Restaurant announced they will remain closed as they mourn the loss of life and reflect on how best to support staff, patrons, and the community.
