Group seeks permit for hotel

(Danville) — Another boutique hotel could be coming to Danville.

A company called the Good Living Group wants to buy the former Foundation House at 136 West Main Street, across from Sovah-Danville.

They’ve filed for a Special Use Permit to convert the building into a hotel.  The Danville Planning Commission will get more information on the proposal next month, then make a recommendation for Danville City Council to consider at a December meeting.

In 2004, the Piedmont Health Foundation used donations from 400 people to purchase and renovate the century-old home. It was used as overnight quarters for qualifying people with loved ones admitted to the hospital.

Danville-Pittsylvania Social Services was the most recent owner of the Foundation House. They used it as a 24-7 treatment center before moving into their new home on Piney Forest Road last year.
