(Danville) — The city has put out bids to develop two properties right next to the casino.
The Request for Proposal asks for development proposals for the Community Way site in the Schoolfield District next to the Caesars Virginia Casino and Resort. That compromises two parcels directly across Bishop Avenue from the casino campus.
The resort is expected to open next month with a 320-room hotel and a world-class casino gaming floor with almost 1,500 slot machines, 79 table games, 48 electronic table games, a WSOP room, and Caesars Sportsbook. The resort will also have a full-service spa, pool, upscale bars and lounges, and a variety of dining options—along with a 2,500-seat live entertainment theater, and over 50,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.
The two parcels on Community Way Site offers the potential for mixed-use development, a versatile plaza, and parking spaces. It’s being developed as part of the larger effort to redevelop the entire Schoolfield Mill Village area.
