Suspect surrenders in fatal Danville restaurant shooting

(Danville) — One person killed was and two others wounded this week in an altercation at a north Danville Restaurant.  

Police got the call in the wee hours Saturday morning from the  Ten 10 Restaurant and Lounge on Piney Forest Road. Officers found 33-year old Damion Quayshaud Reed suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.  He was pronounced dead shortly after being taken from the scene. 

Police also found a 50-year old security guard at the scene who had been shot in his leg.  Minutes later, a third victim—a 37-year old man, arrived at the Emergency Room at SOVAH-Danville, suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm, He had been taken from the scene by a private vehicle. 

Hours later, police issued a warrant for the arrest of 28-year old Khaleel Latwain Rodgers-Junior.  He’s charged with second-degree murder and two weapons counts. 

Police say Rodgers turned himself in late Sunday afternoon. He is being held without bond at the Danville City Jail.

His father, Khaleel Rodgers-Senior, is already serving time for a shooting death.  The 56-year old elder Rodgers is serving nine years for voluntary manslaughter in the 2021 shooting death of 50-year-old Clarence James Martin outside of a house on Rocklawn Avenue.
