(Danville) — A developer will get to build an assisted living community in Danville.
City Council Tuesday approved three requests from Joe Cubas. He’ll get to put 240 condos and 180 assisted living units on an 11-and-a-half acre lot at the southeastern corner of Goodyear Boulevard and the Danville Expressway.
Cubas is combining the assisted living facility with other housing to create a special community. Originally, Cubas was planning to build the assisted living facility in the north side of town. He abandoned the efforts after concerns emerged about the location’s proximity to Woodside Village Apartments, which has been the scene of several recent shootings.
Earlier this year, Cubas got permission to build a large single-family housing development on a hundred acres between the Expressway and Jenny Lane. It will include over three-hundred homes in the 300-to-350-thousand dollar range.
