Man allegedly kills grandmother, steps in front of train

(Danville) — Danville Police say a man killed his grandmother Friday morning, then got hit by a train.

According to a press release, Danville Police were called just before 2 p.m. Friday about a well-being check on an elderly woman living in the 1300 block of College Park Drive. Officers found 81-year old Patty

Scearce dead with trauma to her upper body.

Scearce lived there with her grandson, 35-year old Barry Pyron, Jr.  Police say Pyron was already in the hospital, being treated for major injuries after being hit by a train.  That happened at around quarter to noon on the tracks at West Main and Booth Road near the tracks at Edgewood Road.

Police say Pyron abruptly walked into the path of the train and was hit and taken to an area hospital.

Pyron has been charged with second degree murder. Danville Police say due to the ongoing investigation and for security reasons, they will release no more information at this time.
