(Chatham) — A Chatham High School soccer star was honored last week for reaching a major milestone. Hours later, she went out and scored the winning goal!
Junior Delaney Haymore scored her 100th goal a week ago in a 9-0 win over Galileo at Dan Daniel Park. She was honored for the achievement before last Wednesday’s game against Appomattox County.
She promptly scored five more goals in that game, including the game-winner off a free kick to the upper right corner of the goal box. She was just over 30 yards out. Haymore earned this 105th goal in overtime with approximately 1:30 minutes left in play.
That was the difference as the Lady Cavs beat the Raiders, 6-to-5. With the win, Chatham improved to 8-1 on the season.
