(Danville) — The Danville Fire Department had to make a return trip to a local factory Monday to battle a fire that began on Sunday, but managed to rekindle.
Crews went to Blue Ridge Fiberboard for the second time in as many days. A single stack of fiberboard was burning with other stacks nearby. It was remnants of a fire that began Sunday afternoon in a different part of the property.
Blue Ridge employees were using hose lines, but couldn’t quite reach the seat of the fire. Danville Fire Crews used a hose line and quickly knocked down the fire. Employees moved the boards with forklifts to uncover smoldering remains. 20 firefighters spent about an hour at the scene.
Plant personnel monitored the area overnight.
