(Danville) — With two teams working halfway across the country, a local group is still able to help a new set of disaster victims.
God’s Pit Crew spokesman Brandon Nuckles says the Memorial Day weekend saw an outbreak of severe weather in several states, causing over 20 fatalities and leaving a wide path of destroyed and damaged homes, and thousands without power. “In the past month we have seen so much devastation from Texas all the way to Kentucky. We have seen tornados in Nebraska and Iowa,” Nuckles says. “And we’ve seen what it has done to these communities, devastating families.”
Nuckles says the two teams they’ve sent to areas around Houston-Texas to help with flood recovery have been busy. “They’ve mucked out over fifty homes that were completely flooded from historic flooding in that area,” Nuckles said. “We currently have teams out there cutting trees, removing debris and putting people back into their homes.”
God’s Pit Crew is sending pallets of Blessing Buckets to Madisonville, Kentucky, and Rogers, Arkansas. Those are five-gallon buckets containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene items, first-aid kits, Bibles, and handwritten notes of encouragement.
Nuckles says the Crew will soon need to restock their inventory of Blessing Buckets to have them ready at a moment’s notice when the next disaster hits. “We ask that you join us in praying for the families that have been affected by so much devastation. It is absolutely horrific. We believe that God is going to continue to provide the resources we need through our partners and incredible volunteers so that we can continue to go out and make a difference in these hurting communities,” said Nuckles. “We can’t do this without people like you. People who step up and volunteer, pray for our teams, and continue to donate so we can make a positive impact in lives that need it most.”
