(Danville) — Planners are backing a developer’s proposal for a small hotel and a restaurant next to the casino.
Schoolfield LLC is asking the city to rezone 916 West Main Street. That 2.8 acre tract houses the old canteen building (pictured) once used by Dan River’s Schoolfield Division. They’ll need it rezoned from Industrial Manufacturing to Highway Retail Commercial.
They’re also asking for an identical rezoning on four acres at 1076 West Main to make way for a boutique hotel with 36 rooms.
The Danville Planning Commission voted unanimously Monday to recommend Danville City Council approve the rezoning. Council will take up the issue in July.
