(Danville) — As the weather gets warmer, activity is picking up at Danville’s temporary casino.
The Virginia Lottery this weekend released May figures for casino activity in Virginia. The state Lottery reports $20,283,455.18 in revenue during the month. That’s up over a half-million dollars from April. There was more activity at their 804 slot machines and their 33 table games.
Caesars has now taken in over 220 million dollars since they opened last May.
May’s taxes on Caesars was more than three-and-a-half million dollars. Over a million of that goes directly to the City of Danville. The city has now collected over 13 million dollars in gaming-tax revenue from the casino. The city also gets reimbursement as part of a citing agreement.
The permanent Caesars Virginia Casino & Resort is set to open later this year.
