(Axton, Va.) — One of three people shot in Pittsylvania County this weekend has died.
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office got word Monday that 82-year-old Margie Watkins of Axton had died, two days after being shot at a mobile home on Sandy River Road in Axton.
The state medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy. A second victim remains in the ICU at an area hospital. The third victim was released from care this weekend.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Captain Gerald Ford says upgraded charges are pending against the suspect, 31-year old Telvin Oshea Hairston of Martinsville.
There was speculation that a protective order or a restraining order had been issued before the domestic dispute Saturday, but Ford says there is no record of such an order. Hairston is still being held without bond in the Pittsylvania County jail.
