(Axton, Va.) — Charges have been upgraded against a Martinsville man charged with shooting three people last weekend in Pittsylvania County.
It happened Saturday afternoon at a mobile home on Sandy Level Road, near the Henry County line. Deputies say a domestic dispute turned into gunfire. Three people were taken from the scene to area hospitals.
Hours later, 31-year old Telvin Hairston was arrested by Henry County Sheriff’s Deputies and charged with three counts of malicious wounding and multiple weapons charges.
On Monday, Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office got word that 82-year-old Margie Watkins of Axton had died. An autopsy is scheduled. A second victim remains in the ICU at an area hospital. The third victim was released from care this weekend.
Meantime, Hairston has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and is still being held with no bond in the Pittsylvania County Jail.
