(Danville) — One of two suspects in a convenience store armed robbery on Memorial Drive will serve seven years in prison.
19-year old Arshay Trevante Haley (pictured) was convicted earlier this year of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced Monday morning in Danville Circuit Court.
It happened February, 2023 at the Sunrise convenience store in the 500 block of Memorial Drive. The clerk said two black males walked in. One of them was six feet tall and wore a gray jacket and a mask and was armed with a machete. The other stood five-six and wore a multicolored jacket. He had a gun and demanded the clerk open the register. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. No shots were fired and no one was hurt.
Haley got two years each for robbery and malicious assault, plus three years for the weapon charge.
The other suspect was 36-year old Calvin Franklin Hughes. He is set to appear in Danville Circuit Court later this month.
