(Richmond) — Sounds like Caesars is still on track to open a permanent casino in Danville before the end of the year.
The State Lottery Board Wednesday got an update during their quarterly meeting in Richmond. They got the lowdown on the first fiscal year numbers generated at the temporary casino on West Main Street. Caesars reports more than $230 million in adjusted gross revenues. They paid out over 41 and a half million dollars in taxes. The city of Danville got more than 14 million dollars in tax revenue. The city also receives additional money from Caesars under the terms of a Siting Agreement.
Offerings under the big tent are expanding. A Lottery spokesperson says in the past three months they had approved the addition of 50 new games and 16 projects affecting 224 games and eight tables at the temporary casino.
The Board also got an update on construction work as teams scramble to have things wrapped up before the end of the year. Officials from the state lottery are meeting with Caesars officials monthly in anticipation of their opening.
Both Caesars and the Hard Rock Casino in Bristol are set to open before the end of the year.
The estimated price tag on Caesars Virginia Casino and Resort in Danville is 650 million dollars.
