(Danville) — Danville Police have made an arrest in an overnight shooting death.
The call came in as a request for a well-being check just before 10pm Wednesday from the 200 block of Fagan Street off of North Main Street.
Officers found a man lying in a home’s driveway suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Rescuers gave 33-year old Azra Jermann Keene lifesaving aid at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital and later died from his injuries.
Thursday afternoon, police charged 29-year old Tyree Rafael Brandon with second-murder and two weapons counts. There was no suspect photo released. Investigators say that’s being withheld at the time for “investigative purposes.”
Danville Police held a Healing after Recent Trauma (H.E.A.R.T.) Walk in the 200 block of Fagan Street Thursday afternoon. The goal was to show the community the police department cares about their well-being—not to gather any information. It was a check-in on the neighbors.
Anyone who needed counseling or any other resource or service was connected to the right people or organization. It also allowed police to give neighbors accurate facts on the shooting and to answer any questions.
