(Danville) — Danville Community College is in the market for a new leader.
School President Doctor Jerry Wallace was named Tuesday as the next president of West Virginia University Potomac State College. He will begin December first.
Wallace came on board at DCC two years ago. During his tenure, the school has had six consecutive semesters of enrollment growth, increased community engagement activities and launched multiple workforce training programs.
Before DCC, Wallace was President at the Nebraska Central Community College Hastings Campus.
Last year, Wallace was named one of the Top 100 People to Meet by Virginia Business Magazine and received the Young Professionals PACE award from the Danville-Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce. Just last month, he traveled to New York to receive the 2024 Rising Star Award from the Rural Community College Alliance.
Wallace was the seventh President in DCC’s history. There’s no word yet on a process to replace him.
