(Danville) — Activity spiked a bit during the last full month of operations at the temporary casino in Danville.
The state lottery this weekend released November revenues for the state’s three casinos. It showed Caesars Virginia took in $19,775,176.50 for the month. That’s up one-and-a-half million dollars over October, and it’s more than two million dollars higher than the same month in 2023.
Revenues from their 36 table games was up a half-million from a month ago. Activity at their 826 slot machines was up more than a million.
Caesars has now taken in nearly 340 million dollars since they opened last year.
November taxes on Caesars was $4,150,438.12. One-point-three million of that goes directly to the City of Danville.
The city has now collected nearly 20 million dollars in gaming-tax revenue from the casino. The city also gets reimbursement as part of a citing agreement.
The December numbers at the big tent on West Main Street will be much smaller. That’s because it will close on Tuesday when the permanent Caesars Virginia Casino and Resort will host its grand opening. It’ll feature a parade of race cars from the River District to Schoolfield. NBA legend Dennis Rodman, serving as Master of Ceremonies, will make the ceremonial first bet at Caesars’ Sportsbook.
