(Danville) — A national group this week is recognizing Danville as one of the nation’s top digital cities for 2024.
This year’s Digital Cities Survey from the Center for Digital Government ranked Danville fifth in cities with populations of fewer than 75,000. The study recognizes cities who use technology to “strengthen cybersecurity, enhance transparency and digital equity and plan for the future of work.”
The report noted recent moves by Danville to prioritize public safety through IT partnerships with first responders and police. That’s helped streamline emergency communications and helped reduce violent crime.
In 2022, the city’s IT team designated a full-time technical support specialist to work directly with police.
City IT leaders also spent six months creating an innovative digital platform for tourism information. The “Visit Sosi” webpage debuted in 2023.
