(Danville) — Only about half of the candidates for Danville City Council this fall are reporting political contributions.
The state Board of Elections this weekend released fund-raising totals through the month of July. Madison Whittle leads the pack, thanks to a $10,000 self-loan. Newcomer Shakeva Frazier is second with $8,560 raised. That includes 21 large individual donors and 41 small donors.
Incumbent Lee Vogler reports $2,911 in contributions—more than a third from small donors. Fellow incumbent Larry Campbell has taken in $1,809.
The other five candidates—Felice McWilliams, Petrina Carter, Sherman Saunders, Maureen Belko and Barry Mayo, are reporting no fund-raising activity as of July.
The election is November fifth. Five seats are up for grabs. All five incumbents are on the ballot.
