(Danville) — Candidates for Danville City Council have collectively raised more than 70-thousand dollars in their bids for five open seats.
The state Board of Elections has released fund-raising totals through September. Madison Whittle still leads the pack with more than thirty-thousand dollars. Most of that is from the candidate.
Incumbent Lee Vogler raised the most during September, giving him $11,446 in contributions to date. Newcomer Shakeva Frazier came in third with just over 11-thousand dollars in donations.
Incumbent Larry Campbell has taken in $6,207. Fellow incumbent Sherman Saunders has raised more than four-thousand—all of it in September.
Newcomer Petrina Carter is reporting over 43-hundred in contributions. Fellow newcomer Maureen Belko has raised $1,560, and incumbent Barry Mayo is just over a thousand. Newcomer Felice McWilliams has taken in 560 dollars.
The election is November fifth. Five seats will be voted on. All five incumbents are on the ballot.
