(Blairs) — State transportation officials are ready to hear from motorists about a safety project at a busy crossing in Pittsylvania County.
The Department of Transportation is weighing improvements at the intersection of Route 29 and Spring Garden Road in Blairs. It would also cover the intersection of Woodcrest Drive on the west side of 29.
The project will extend the northbound right turn lane, install a northbound left turn lane, and extend the southbound left turn lane. The goal is to accommodate a 200′ storage and 200′ taper length.
Right now work is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2027 and be completed by early 2029. The total cost is estimated at nearly four million dollars.
