(Richmond) — Activity is up at the local casino. The state lottery this weekend released August revenues for the state’s three casinos.
It showed Caesars Virginia took in $20,478,386.79 in August. That’s over one-and-a-half million dollars more than July. Revenues from their 36 table games was up about a half-million from July. Their 826 slot machines took in one-point-three million more than the previous month.
It was their busiest month since March. It was also up sharply from the numbers they posted in August of 2023.
According to the Lottery Board’s report, August activity was also up at Virginia’s two other casinos in Bristol and Portsmouth.
Caesars has now taken in over 280 million dollars since they opened last year. August taxes on Caesars was $3,686,109.62. One-point-two million of that goes directly to the City of Danville.
The city has now collected over 16 million dollars in gaming-tax revenue from the casino. The city also gets reimbursement as part of a citing agreement with Caesars Entertainment.
The permanent Caesars Virginia Casino & Resort is set to open later this year.
