(Danville) — A local volunteer could be in line for a big check—and you can help make it happen.
The NASCAR Foundation’s Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award recognizes NASCAR Fans who volunteer for children’s causes in their racing communities. It is the premier sports philanthropic award – decided upon by voters.
Judy Simmons with God’s Pit Crew has been selected as one of four finalists. They were narrowed down and chosen from many different organizations across the nation.
Simmons specializes in assembling Play Pails. Those are distributed to children who are victims in natural disasters. Play Pails are three-gallon buckets that include toys and activities, hygiene products, blankets, backpacks, and other essential items to help care for a child’s emotional needs following a disaster.
The winner will be chosen by an online vote. The finalist with the most votes gets $100,000 for their organization. Everybody is able to vote once-a-day every day from now through November 18. You can go to www.godspitcrew.org to access the link to vote.
