(Danville) — The local food pantry is asking for help as they get ready to move into what’s usually their busiest time of the year.
God’s Storehouse and Commonwealth Document Management are teaming up again to Shred Out Hunger.
On Saturday, November 2nd, from 9 am to noon, folks are invited to bring ten non-perishable food items or a monetary donation along with any personal documents they need to be shredded to God’s Storehouse on Memorial Drive.
Donors can stay in their cars—volunteers will collect all of the items to be shred.
God’s Storehouse Executive Director Karen Harris says their food donations usually dwindle this time of year and they need to restock their shelves, especially with holiday food items.
“Our food donations are beginning to dwindle this time of the year,” said Harris. “We need help from the community to restock our shelves, especially with holiday food items, so that we can provide for those in need. Hungry families in the area will benefit, as well as the donors in having personal documents safely shredded.”
God’s Storehouse has helped more than 2,000 families so far this year, giving out more than 23,000 boxes of food.
